Five Brutal Sets You Need to See at DAMNATION FESTIVAL This Weekend
English blackened grind duo Anaal Nathrakh will play their only UK show following the release of A New Kind of Horror at Damnation Festival.
Extreme metal takes over Leeds University this weekend as Damnation Festival returns with one of its strongest line ups yet. Featuring the likes of Vader, Entombed A.D, Fukpig and a whole raft of other great bands from across the extreme metal spectrum, Damnation Festival is the place to be this weekend if you like your music heavy. Here are just five of the bands playing this weekend that we think should be on our Must See List!
1. Insanity Alert
Citing the likes of D.R.I. and Suicidal Tendencies as influences, if you want half an hour or so of “glorious thrash” then these ragers will get you running to the pit! The band had this to say: “We, four idiots from the damn nation Austria, can’t wait to thrash shit up at this year’s
2. Cancer
Back in the ’90s, Telford death metal scumbags Cancer were a regular name on the UK underground death metal scene, so, if you’re looking for a lesson in death metal history or want to take a trip back to a great era of UK extreme music, these boys will help.
3. Batushka
One of the beautiful things about the extreme music scene is, no matter how big or small the band is, some bands just put on a real visual and sonic treat. Described as “orthodox” black metal, Batushka are one of those bands and will be well worth your time.
4. Fukpig
Come on, they’re called Fukpig and their line-up features the talents of Mick Kenney who also causes mayhem with fellow Damnationers Anaal Nathrakkh. Should you really be anywhere else while Fukpig are unleashing their filth on the Damnation faithful?
5. Vader
Before Behemoth and Decapitated brought the Polish extreme metal scene to the attention of the world, Vader were relentlessly pummelling away with their no fuss death metal. Damnation sees the legends return to the UK for a set that promises nothing more than head-stoving, no-frills brutality.
Tickets priced £43 are on sale now from damnationfestival.co.uk.
