TORONTO COMICON 2018 Announces STAR WARS Actor Joonas Viljami Suotamo as First Guest
Toronto ComiCon confirms Finnish actor Joonas Viljami Suotamo as the first guest for the 2018 event and he’s a real walking carpet!
Toronto ComiCon has announced the first guest for the 2018 event and he’s a real walking carpet! Finnish actor and basketball player Joonas Viljami Suotamo, who took over playing the iconic role of Chewbacca from Peter Mayhew in the current Star Wars trilogy, will appear at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre as part of this year’s event, which runs from March 16 to 18 in MTCC’s South Building.
Suotamo served as a body double for Mayhew in The Force Awakens but took over playing everyone’s favorite Wookie in the current film The Last Jedi with Mayhew serving as a consultant. He will also play Chewie in the upcoming prequel Solo: A Star Wars Story. The Star Wars movies are his first roles in a major film since his height limited the roles he could take. He chose to remain behind the camera.
Toronto ComiCon is the sister event to Fan Expo, the largest comic book convention in Canada. Though on a much small scale than Fan Expo, the event still boasts stars of science fiction, fantasy and horror. It also focuses on Canadian professional cosplayers as well as both established and upcoming artists plus vendors of all things geeky.
Keep an eye on the TCC’s socials as well as PureGrainAudio for regular updates on guests and more!
