Houston-based riff dealers Omotai have released a stream of their new album, the conceptual new record A Ruined Oak. The album is a meditation on the lost colony at Roanoke, centered on abandonment and responsibility. The lyrics are haunted by loss and violence and this album shows a greater range than anything the group has done previously. A Ruined Oak was recorded by Chris Ryan at Dead City Sound and mastered by James Plotkin.
A Ruined Oak delivers a massive dose of charged up riffs, pummeling low-end thunder and infectious hooks. The songs draw from a range of influences, including thrash, doom, sludge, extreme metal, hardcore punk, and post-rock.
