Let us introduce you to Brisbane, Australia’s alternative rock quartet, Between Kings. The band – which consists of Nic Machuca (vocals), Jordan Coyne (guitar), Jayden Marsh (bass), and Nick Fanning (drums) – meld funky rock and more straight-forward arena rock into their own unique blend as evidenced via their new single “Alibi”. Check out the premiere above and be sure to add this foursome to your rock radar!
Said Jordan Coyne of the inspiration behind the song: “‘Alibi’ started off musically as a baseline originally written for guitar. After listening back to it later, I decided it would sound thicker if it had more attitude as a bass piece. I then made a guitar part to compliment it and it all started coming together as a rough demo. As soon as I had that much I called Nic. Not five minutes but ten minutes later, I got a call back from Nic with a bunch of lyrics. We started putting it all together with me playing the song through the loudspeaker of my phone and Nic singing at the top of his voice. This was very awkward as I was in a cafe with the phone blaring out this song and Nic screaming out the lyrics he had written.”
