The Cat Empire – ‘Rising With The Sun’ [Album Review]
Rising With The Sun is an offering with deep soul, grit and an edginess that entices. It tells a story, each song a snapshot, making the journey relateable and that much more enjoyable. This album is a rarity and definitely worth your time.

Melbourne, Australia’s The Cat Empire is set to release their latest record Rising With The Sun on March 4th via Two Shoes / Fontana North, and the 11 tracks are the perfect remedy for dreary, cold, and rainy days.
A mixture of jazz, reggae, funk, Latin and ska instantly transport the listener, thanks to the uplifting and warm atmosphere created by The Cat Empire. Having already released two singles Wolves and Bulls, these tracks alone give a really great indication of the album as a whole.
Wolves is definitely a stand out track for me, raw and high energy it brings to life the excitement of a live performance. What struck me the most about this album, in particular, was how ‘in the moment’ it feels. There’s a sense of urgency and improvisation that many albums lack in an era where everything is overly produced.
Rising With The Sun is an offering with deep soul, grit and an edginess that entices. It tells a story, each song a snapshot, making the journey relateable and that much more enjoyable. This album is a rarity and definitely worth your time.
