Glamour Of The Kill – “After Hours” [EP] [Album Review]

After Hours, the follow-up to the impressive Savages, is a six-track affair which sees York metalcore shredders Glamour Of The Kill go down the route of self-funding and running the whole deal themselves and, for that alone, they should be applauded given the financial hardships faced by many bands these days.

Back slapping praise aside, the most important question is whether or the not the five tracks on this new EP stand up against the mammoth album that was Savages. Well, sitting musically alongside the likes of Bullet For My Valentine, After Hours sees the highly rated UK outfit revisit their blueprint of ferocious metalcore blended with precise, soaring melodies to create a snappy, crunchy set of songs that, if you were going to place them musically, would probably sit somewhere between the punky snot-rock of Papa Roach and the electronic metalcore of Escape The Fate. Now, given the appearances of the Jacoby Shaddix (on “Out Of Control”) and Craig Mabbut (on “Earthquake”), there probably isn’t a more suitable place for Glamour Of The Kill to sit.

While there is no denying the fact that After Hours had a tough job to follow Savages, it certainly is up to the task. In fact, should the modern metal fan choose to take a punt on it, they’ll be rewarded with five tracks of polished, catchy metal anthems and just enough material to keep you reeled in until the band record a full-length follow-up to one of the best British metalcore albums of the last few years.
