13 songs of purely pummeling metal, that is what you should expect when hitting play on Ashen Grave, the new album from Cincinnati, Ohio-based band, The Requiem. Having formed in 2010, The Requiem consists of Patrick Dudney (vocals), Nick Ulmer (guitar), David Puthoff (guitar), Brandon Ellis (bass), and Sam Feist (drums) and is currently unsigned. Hard at work since their formation, the band released the aforementioned Ashen Grave on May 26, 2014.
The song “Veil,” available here as a totally free download, is a perfect example (aside from “Deliverance” and “The Incinerator”) of the group’s humongously heavy yet melodic sound. Taking cues from acts the likes of Trivium, Lamb of God, and The Black Dahlia Murder, The Requiem maintain their own identity. The band is making big moves in their hometown and can now be seen gigging at venues all over the Cincinnati tri-state area.
