The Skinny: Through Our Darkest Days, the new release from the acclaimed Danish melodic death quartet Mercenary, is now streaming in full online – check it out just below via the SoundCloud player. Recorded at Denmark’s Hansen Studios with Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Heaven Shall Burn), the album is an “extremely complex and well-structured release… bursting at the seams with powerful melodies, as well as moments of deathlike brutality” (New Noise).
According to the band, the album’s title is meant very positively and thematizes both the journey through existential darkness and the ability to break through it, while the lyrics involve making the most of life and not getting caught up in negativity. The sound combines the group’s latest material with some of the more traditional melancholic elements seen featured on previous albums.
