Geared Up
Gear Review: XFactor1 guitarist Cody Joseph on his Marshall Mode Four Amplifier
The Ohio-based hard rock band XFactor1 has shared the stage with Godsmack, Disturbed and many more other major acts. They also released their latest CD, Famous Last Words, back in June and since then have spent the Summer touring, taking their brand of energetic hard rock to the masses. Guitarist Cody Joseph took a moment to speak with me about the one piece of gear he can’t live without… his Marshall Mode Four.

When you were recording your debut CD, Famous Last Words, what was the one piece of gear you used to obtain your signature sound?
Cody: That would be my Marshall Mode Four.
What about it makes it so important to you?
Cody: It gives me a really warm, crushing, projecting tone that I have always wanted.
What are the major pros and cons?
Cody: Pros: 1. Amazing tones that you can dial into for almost any style. 2. It’s a Marshall. Cons: The volume doesn’t go 11.
How long have you had it, how do you use it, would you ever change it?
Cody: I have had my Marshall Mode Four for about 5 years now and I use it to play live shows, tours and recording. I would never change it for anything else!
Any final thoughts or comments on the gear?
Cody: A very strong and powerful road dog, it’s amazing for both recording and live shows.
