Album Review
Amoral – “Beneath”
An odd trend that has been around for some time now involves death metal bands switching their sound to that of a power metal style. We’ve seen Katatonia, Amorphis and also recently Finland’s Amoral take on this makeover. Using their melodic/technical techniques, Amoral have transferred their sound and skills over into their “revised” sonic attack which can yet again be heard on Beneath, their fifth full-length.

On this album Amoral’s excellent musicianship abounds; they’ve produced a mature sound with some very heavy instrumentals combined with soaring, melodic guitar leads. Generally speaking the singing is all quite calm and gives the music a rich texture. Occasionally however, Amoral rear their death metal side with nice vocal growls.
Beneath, ballads included, truly demonstrates the extent of this band’s musical talents; they hammer out some of their best songs with world class technicalities throughout. I highly recommend that all metal lovers check out Amoral’s latest sounds.
