State Lines – “Win Free” [Song Review]

These shambolic Brand New acolytes, known formally as State Lines, deliver a new song off of their upcoming self-titled 7inch and it’s a knockout. It’s short but sweet, fuzzy yet melodic, and bisected by a purposeful middle fifth. At the minute-forty mark, that adagio bridge pulls the track together and paves the way for the (much too short) wailing finale. If Your Favourite Weapon meant anything to your fledgling pop-punk days, check out State Lines and greet this New York quartet as brethren. Barely even making two and a half minutes – note the 15 seconds of silence at end of track – “Win Free” will have you begging for more music from the shores of Long Island.
