Album Review
Crowned By Fire – “Prone To Destroy”
Heavy, Crushing and Pounding! These are the best words I could think of to sum up, Prone To Destroy, the latest disc from Crowned By Fire. I am a huge fan of heavy, down-tuned, grinding metal; especially bands like Down, Crowbar and Black Label Society, and that is just who these guys remind me of. The thing I really like about Crowned By Fire though, is their ability to create and maintain really good grooves, no matter how heavy things get; and they do get quite heavy!

“I Spit On Your Curse” is a battering ram of a song that kicks things off and the rest of the disc follows suite. Prone To Destroy does not tread any new territory per se, but it is a solid disc that metal fans should be able to identify with and appreciate. “Sex With A Ghost” is the standout track for me; it’s heavy and bluesy with a great melodic lead break – I’ve been listening to this tune repeatedly since I got the album. At the end of the day this is a good offering from a band I hope to see more from in the future.
