The Prestige – “The Great Floods” [EP]
What is that? A flood on the horizon? No wait, it’s The Prestige. Hailing from Montreal, Quebec, these rockers have ridden the waves of rock and recorded and released the EP The Great Floods. Now ready your swim trunks and snorkel and listen to what I have to say about this release.

Having shared the stage with established acts like Blind Witness, Dead And Divine, We Came As Romans and others, The Prestige have already been able to build a strong following. Growing a fan base ultimately led to the release of this EP, The Great Floods.
As soon as I clicked play I was washed away by the song “There Is A Flood In Kansas.” This tune is gnarly and set the mood for the rest of the album. The Great Floods consists of a mixture of hardcore and rock and the instrumentals take on a southern hardcore style with some great riffs. The majority of vocals consist of melodic singing, but at times the singer will outwardly scream as well. This contrasting mixture creates a great sound and a supreme EP that is easy to get into.
I think you’ll find The Great Flood to be refreshing when compared to the other more typical hardcore releases of 2010. The fans of BEDlight For BlueEYES, Protest The Hero, Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster and Baptized In Blood might just get wet for The Prestige.
