Album Review
OurAfter
Tabula Rasa (11.11.2008)
Pennsylvania based rock band OurAfter have recently released their debut EP, Tabula Rasa. OurAfter combines skillful musicianship and a dazzling production with straight up rock n’ roll tracks and first-rate songwriting. The outcome is a succession of five well-crafted pop-infused rock tunes that are easy to become immersed in.
Ourafter’s zeal is evident throughout the disc, which is chock full of entertaining and catchy tunes such as “Push The Pill” and “Seasons Of Grey,” both of which have catchy choruses. Other tracks worth notable mention are, “Envious Eyes,” and “Knee Deep.” The last tune on this disc is probably the weakest of the bunch. While “Echo” is not awful it just seems to be anti-climatic on a disc that is full of good rocking tunes and it feels flat when compared to the four previous songs on the disc.
Tabula Rasa is not necessarily groundbreaking but it is a solid and quite enjoyable debut CD that offers a collection of songs designed to appeal to fans of most genres of music. There are enough melodies and catchy choruses to satisfy most any listeners. Bottom line, this is a very well produced CD and a solid debut from a band we are certain to hear more from in the future. Keep an eye out for these guys they are destined for big things. [ END ]
