Throw The Fight

I’m going to start off this review with complete honesty. I am biased towards this band. I love Throw The Fight’s music, I love their style, I love their attitudes towards music, and I love that they possess obvious talent. That said, I love their debut full length album, In Pursuit Of Tomorrow.

In Pursuit Of Tomorrow is a 10 track album boasting songs that are all great on their own; put them all together and you get a monster album. “Ready For War” is the perfect opening track; it’s fast-paced instrumentation and hard-hitting vocals get the listeners ready for a kick-ass record. James Clark’s vocals are superb: piercing, yet not annoying. On this track James‘ vocals found a way to slip through my eardrums and remain embedded on the base of my miniscule brain.

The excellent music does not stop with the end of this track. It continues on throughout the whole goddamn CD. If it wouldn’t ruin the disc for anyone I would sit down and tell you everything I love about every song, then again, that would take days. Instead, I’ll simply tell you about my favourites. “His Blood, My Hands” is the track that stood out to me the most. The introduction is a very high-pitched guitar riff that sounds pleasing to the ear. All though it was the guitar that caught my attention it was the lyrics that held me captive. “I walk into the door, climb the stairs, I want to scream, but I stand silently, watching as you’re fucking him!” That is a small sample of the lyrics that caused me to press the repeat button on my stereo system. If that intrigues you, check out the song and I’m sure you will hit repeat as well.

Another song that stood out is “It’s for You”. This track shows the softer side of Throw The Fight; generally all of their music is up-beat and hateful. However, “It’s for You” is a soft song about a man who’s loved one has left him long before, yet he still has the same thoughts for her. It’s a sad song, but I believe that the album needed it to complete it.

Throw The Fight did a great job on their debut full length album In Pursuit Of Tomorrow. I have one very small complaint with the album as a whole, the fourth track is titled “The Wreckage (Intro)”. This is a track that is completely pointless; it is 23 seconds of basically nothing. That aside, this album is a keeper.  [ END ]
