Hollywood Ending (10.29.2007)

Rock and Roll the way it was meant to be!

That is the best way to describe Hollywood Ending, the debut release from Age Of Daze. This CD reminds me of some of the rock bands that hit the scene a few years back, bands such as Chevelle, 3 Doors Down, Puddle of Mudd and Seether. Each song stands on its own and has a gritty, unapologetic feel to it while still maintaining a good amount of pop sensibility. It is very easy to see these songs gaining plenty of airplay on rock stations as most of the songs come standard with at least one unforgettable hook that will translate well to radio.

Age Of Days have not necessarily created anything new and groundbreaking, but what they have put together is a solid debut CD that should go a long way to getting the band noticed. Songs worth notable mention are the first track on the disc and coincidentally the first radio single, “Afflicted.” This song sets the tone for the rest of the disc with its catchy chorus and sparkling production.

“Change Everything” and “Thought You Should Know” are also very good, very enjoyable tunes. The final track, an acoustic, bonus version of “Believe” is extraordinary! This alternative version has an ethereal quality to it that at times reminded me of one of my favorite bands, Stabbing Westward.

At the end of the day, I would say Hollywood Ending is a first-rate record and Age Of Daze is a band we are absolutely going hear more from in the very near future.  [ END ]
