Sabrina Monique has released her latest single, “Rather Be Lonely,” a powerful statement of self-worth and resilience. Featured on her upcoming album, It’s Not Me, It’s You, which delves deep into themes of empowerment and liberation, “Rather Be Lonely” is a bold declaration of choosing oneself over toxic relationships, showcasing Sabrina’s signature alt-pop sound, infectious beats, and distinctive, emotive vocal delivery. Sabrina’s unwavering honesty in her music continues to resonate with listeners, providing a voice for those navigating similar struggles. The song’s lyrics reflect the strength it takes to walk away from a harmful situation and the peace in solitude.
Growing up in White Plains, New York, Sabrina found solace in music amidst a challenging family dynamic, often performing to bring light to her surroundings. Her passion for music led her to Manhattan at the age of seventeen, where she pursued her dreams despite facing the intense pressures of the music industry. Her experiences, including her appearance on season three of American Idol 2020 and the subsequent challenges with body image and corrective surgeries, have shaped her into the artist she is today.
Comments Sabrina:
“‘Rather Be Lonely’ is about reclaiming my power. I’ve faced a lot of pressure to conform, but this song is a reminder that it’s okay to choose yourself, even if it means being alone. Writing this EP has been a cathartic process for me, and I hope it empowers others to make choices that honor their self-worth.”
This single, like the rest of her upcoming album, is produced in collaboration with industry veterans Dr. Ford and Randy Merrill.
As Sabrina prepares to release her debut album, “Rather Be Lonely” stands out as a poignant anthem of self-empowerment. With her unique blend of poetic lyricism and pop sensibilities, Sabrina is crafting a movement of resilience and self-acceptance.
