The Weeknd – “Reminder” (Remix) [feat. A$AP Rocky & Young Thug] [Song Review]
The Weeknd, along with A$AP Rocky and Young Thug combine for a burst of lyrical flavours in a track that should not be perceived as a cash grab.
The Weeknd has released a remix of the song “Reminder” from his twice-platinum album Starboy. Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, along with A$AP Rocky and Young Thug combine for a burst of lyrical flavours in a track that should not be perceived as a cash grab.
In the first verse of the song, Young Thug describes every rapper’s intentions on becoming just like Drake. Between the lines, he is trying to convey that every artist needs their own style; while obviously showing that he has his own. In his verse he professes, “All these hip-hop rappers down to be Drake, all my double cups purple like the soul plane.”
In the middle of the track, Abel’s second verse is the same as the original, and is followed by the final piece by Asap Rocky. Rocky talks about his low-key status in the rap game and still, everyone knows who he is. He goes on to mention how he would never cut his hair like Abel and Jaden Smith have, intending to remain with his dreads. He ends it off with, “Might take the paer around my old ways, mind them that they know me.”
This remix is a must-listen from the Toronto native.
