Indie Rock 101 is a short, concise book written by Richard Turgeon, a singer/songwriter and musician who has forged a successful career in the world of indie rock. In this book, Turgeon shares knowledge focused on running, recording and promoting your own band.
Indie Rock 101 briefly touches on a vast array of topics from songwriting and creating a set list to recording and promoting your own musical act. As you might imagine, with only 154 pages the book is quite basic and geared toward what I feel are the absolute newbies to the music scene.
With that being said, there are lots of cool tricks and tips for the beginner such as mic placement, not to mention plenty of information that can be used as a starting point for further research. If you are new to the scene and want to get your feet wet or discover what awaits you down the path to being an indie artist, then this book might just help get you off on the right foot.
