Canadian producer Benjamin Muñoz has begun life on UK label Push & Run with new single “Melle”. The track can be downloaded for free and was inspired by iconic artist Nina Simone, famous Jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal and Crazy Bald Head’s ‘First Born’ single, released back in 1998.
Muñoz’s aim is to make underground dance music, with inspiration, he says, “taken from the worlds of anime series like Cowboy Bebop, FLCL and Tekkonkinkreet to name a few.” Anime is not his only inspiration, though, as Muñoz also notes the influence of “Jet Set Radio Future”, a video game he played as a child.
