Xibalba – “Diablo, Con Amor.. Adios” [EP] [Album Review]
There isn’t a moment throughout the course of this punishing lesson in heavy that doesn’t leave a bruise on your body.
As soon as that hulking great guitar sound lurches out of your speakers, you just know that this latest offering from American peddlers of hardcore filth, Xibalba, are going to deliver something especially disgusting this time around. Set at only three tracks long and clocking in at just over ten minutes, one thing you cannot accuse the hardcore band of is pissing about to get their message across.
Nope, Diablo, Con Amor.. Adios may feel like it’s over as soon as it starts but, for those ten minutes, the group give you the kind of body beatdown that will take you a little longer than ten minutes to recover from. The guitar sound grumbles like your gut after a dodgy curry while the guttural vocals and brutal drums give this almost a death metal feel.
Fear not hardcore fans because Diablo, Con Amor.. Adios has hardcore pulsing through its ugly, nasty veins from the grinding, sludgy, chugging beatdowns to the brutal hardcore delivery of the vocals, there isn’t a moment throughout the course of this punishing lesson in heavy that doesn’t leave a bruise on your body.
