Banshee – “Say My Name” [EP] [Album Review]
Listening to this flawless display of electronic alt rock, you have to wonder not if this band will be huge but when. Read our review here…
One of the most rewarding parts of doing this old website song and dance is discovering gems like Banshee from Greenock, Scotland. Having been knocking about since 2011 under the name Life On Standby, the band have honed their sound away from the glare of the mainstream media but, listening to Say My Name, their new EP, this is surely about to change.
Fronted by the brilliant Erin Donnachie, Say My Name sees the Scottish outfit whip up a flawless demonstration of electronic alt-rock. Think Biffy Clyro, think Paramore, think PVRIS, think Bring Me The Horizon and you’ve pretty much got what these Scottish rockers are about. The five songs on this polished EP are massive-sounding belters from the gargantuan “Say My Name” to the epic “Eagles”, a track which brings this five-track affair to a stunning, dramatic finale.
Over all too soon, as you sit there in bewilderment at what you’ve just listened to, you’ll be left wondering not if this band will be huge but when!
