The Universal Tone – “Down” [SoundCloud Song Stream]
With heavy classic rock influence reminiscent of The Black Keys and Jimi Hendrix, alt-rock darlings The Universal Tone release their new song and first single, “Down,” via SoundCloud.
The Skinny: Los Angeles’ live scene has been buzzing about new alt-rock darlings The Universal Tone, anxiously waiting for the band to release official tracks. The wait is finally over as The Universal Tone recently released their first single, “Down,” via SoundCloud. With a powerful “RIYL” association, Vents magazine compared TUT to the likes of The Black Keys and Jimi Hendrix with their heavy classic rock influence.
Formed in 2012, The Universal Tone is a rock-n-roll/blues group that meshes the classic sound of ’70s rock with contemporary pop sensibilities. Comprised of lead singer Jasmin Poncelet, guitarist Garret Craig, and drummer Kenneth “Biz” Mackenzie, TUT formed with the mission to bring musicianship and songwriting back into the forefront of mainstream music. The trio partnered up with highly acclaimed producer Bob Horn (Usher, Everclear, NeYo) for the release of their first full EP, Nebraska, to release early 2015.
