What one piece of gear do you use to obtain your signature sound?
Dotson: My Tama Warlord Masai snare drum is the one piece of equipment that never lets me down, whether it’s on tour or in the studio.
What about it makes it so important to you?
Dotson:Dotson: Being made from Bubinga gives it a warm unique tone unlike any snare I’ve played before.
What are the major pros and cons?
Dotson: The loud crack I get with rim shots rule! No cons about this drum.
How long have you had it, how do you use it, and would you ever change it?
Dotson: I’ve had this snare for about two years. Right now I have a Remo Controlled Reverse Dot Coated Snare Head, but switch it out every month or so. I love to make it pop with rim shots.
Any final thoughts or comments on the gear?
Dotson: Tama makes the best drums and after I bought the Warlord snare, I had to get the matching Starclassic Bubinga set.
