What one piece of equipment do you use to obtain your signature sound?
Brian: I use EVH 5150 3 head mainly on the high gain channel
What about it makes it so important to you?
Brian: Its the tone of the amp that makes it great! It has three channels, clean, crunch, and high gain. And you can switch between channels seamlessly with no delay. Plus it’s the the Signature amp of the great Eddie Van Halen!
What are the major pros and cons?
Brian: Pros of this amp is like I said Amazing Tone, and the ability to select between three channels seamlessly. I like to use the high gain for my main sound, and switch to the crunch as a mid boost for when I’m playing a riff that I really want to cut through. The only cons of this amp I’d say is the size and weight. It is a fairly heavy head, and the size is bigger than most heads so it needs a custom travel case. And with the size I find I get a little overhang when placing it on top of my speaker cab.
How long have you used this piece of equipment and would you ever change it?
Brian: I’ve been using the EVH for a year now and wouldn’t change it at all. I’ve gone through 3 different heads in a year and defiantly found a keeper… Unless they come up with a new EVH model… And then I might consider it ha ha.
Any final thoughts or comments on the gear?
Brian: I’d recommend this to any guitar player looking for a great stage/recording amp, it’s good for playing all styles of music.
