Album Review
Rainbow – “Live in Germany 1976”
The Rainbow album, Live in Germany 1976, boasts the classic line-up of Ritchie Blackmore, Ronnie James Dio, Cozy Powell, Jimmy Bain and Tony Carey all assembled onstage in the prime of their careers. To many hard rock fans (and Rainbow fans) this is the lineup to beat all other others. Honestly this much talent on one stage at the same time is just ridiculous.

The set list for this show is just as classic as the lineup and includes fan-favorites such as: “Man On A Silver Mountain” and “Catch the Rainbow.” The really cool thing about this disc however, is that the songs take on completely different lives and most become extended free form jam sessions, lasting 16 minutes long. Listening to these unbelievable musicians play off each other unscripted is just mind-blowing.
Fans of Rainbow will dig this disc in a big way, but I also feel that those who can appreciate the unbelievable talent herein assembled will also appreciate this disc. I honestly feel this release is sort of a time capsule from one of the greatest moments in hard rock/heavy metal history. Check it out, you won’t regret it!
