The Skinny: Upon This Dawning are Brescia, Italy’s hometown heroes. The band have already developed a popular following in their native country through touring with popular North American bands such as Asking Alexandria, In Fear and Faith, Underoath and Dance Gavin Dance. Since their formation in 2006, the group has one EP entitled Count The Seconds Before Your Last Breath and a full release, On Your Glory We Build Our Empire under their belt.
Recently, after a drastic line-up change, the band have been recording new and heavier material, and released a viral version of their latest single “Of Human Action” on YouTube (watch it below). Since its March 4th release, “Of Human Action” has almost 20,000 hits, and many positive comments, including some from fans pleading that Rise Records should open their eyes and sign this band. The video was shot in an abandoned warehouse, and features a ballerina dancing as the band jams out their post-hardcore sound.
The heaviness of their music has drawn comparisons to Attack Attack and The Word Alive. With its catchy, synth parts and heavy breakdowns complimented by both harsh screams and soft, clean vocals the song is energetic and addicting. Judging by the degree of attention the band is already receiving, it’s no doubt that once their second full-length album is released they will be every North American hardcore fan’s favourite new band.
