Mary And The Black Lamb – “Emily” [Song Review]
When I talked to Mary And The Black Lamb vocalist Lindz Riot she explained to me that “Emily” was about a friend who passed away a few years ago. She had a problem with depression and that’s what the story was about. This song has a deep meaning for Lindz both musically and lyrically.

“Emily” starts off soft with Lindz singing and acoustics behind her. As the song gets deeper everyone comes in and you suddenly hear guitars and drums. The song has a dark but catchy sound making you envision the story in an eerie, cartoonish way. Though the thought of a girl with depression fills your mind as you listen in, it is while imagining this that you will find yourself tapping your toes and swaying your head to the beat of the track.
This catchy jam can be found on Mary And The Black Lamb’s album As The City Sleeps. Two more versions can be found on their EP Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing which has both acoustic and piano versions. Fans of Dommin, The Birthday Massacre, Three Days Grace and Evanescence will really get into this song. Head on over to iTunes to download it now.
