Album Review
Sky Tells All – “Go Ahead, You Try It!”
Go Ahead, You Try It! is a catchy, pop-punk album that is definitely going to be heard of, and not just because of the cover of Taylor Swfit’s “Love Story.” But since I mentioned it, I have to say it’s a really good cover. It’s not a cheap karaoke cover at all, in fact, I think it could totally hit a movie soundtrack, for a younger adult movie.
I hate to you use the word “cute”, but it really is a cute version of the original; it’s catchy, hip, and very likeable.
When it comes to a pop rock album, lyrically, this one is everything you would want it to be. As is expected, love and relationships are the prominent topics on the album, and that is totally okay. The whole record is catchy, sonically pleasing, and makes you want to be with your friends, hanging out in the summer time. It probably helps that these guys are from always-sunny Florida.
While listening to the disc, I think about all the bands I love in the same genre; this being another one to add to the list. They’re upbeat, melodic, harmonized vocals are most likely what set these guys apart from the plethora of other pop rock bands. And while there may be an overabundance of these such groups, there is certainly nothing wrong with having an increased selection to chose from.
If this music is what you like, give these guys a chance. I commend them for giving it their best, and being proud of an album (although not quite a full length) that they did ALL on their own. [ END ]
