Wings Of Severance
Wings Of Severance [EP] (10.02.2007)
Warning: If you cannot handle sick metalcore, then click back right now. Wings Of Severance are an up-and-coming metalcore band based out of Fox Lake, Illinois. Lately, the genre has seen a bit of a down spell but hopefully, the genre will gain some more leverage when these guys become more widely known.
First off, I’d like to compare their music to a more southern version of All That Remains (the old stuff, of course). The instrumentation is what makes me think of this; the vocals not so much. I can’t really compare the vocals, except maybe similar to older The Black Dahlia Murder. That’s as close as I can get.
While the disc is simply an EP, it has a lot to offer. Its six tracks are heavy and intense, while also maintaining a melody comparable to those used by Misery Signals. Just for a side-note, the EP is actually two EP’s combined: their self titled demo, as well as their latest EP, Trial & Disorder. Personally, I believe it was a great idea to combine the two discs into one; it makes a more impressive package.
It would be a treat to see these guys live, and maybe once they have a full-length album under their belts, we can hope to see then live here in Canada. Kudos to WoS! [ END ]
