Ward Thomas and Charlie Worsham Host a Night of Heartwarming Country at York Barbican [Photos]
Country faves Ward Thomas and Charlie Worsham host a heartwarming night at York Barbican. Check out the photos here.
Country/folk sisters Ward Thomas are one of those acts that you can’t help but like and hit all age demographics judging by the mix of young and old as the duo arrives in York for the latest date on their UK tour.
Supporting the sisters on this run is Mississippi actor/songwriter Charlie Worsham who, as with the headliners, makes it impossible not to enjoy their short set packed with the kind of country earworms that are loaded with an honest, heartfelt air and come linked with some equally heartwarming story or tale from the singer’s life.
Despite only being four nights into the tour, it’s clear from the outset how polished Ward Thomas is at this live-performing malarky. Touring in support of their recently-released new album, Music In The Madness, it’s an early start, but way before the pair take to the stage, there are very few stragglers not already in their seats.
Playing a career-spanning set, including tracks from the new record, Ward Thomas put on a slick performance. With a slightly rockier edge to their songs, there is plenty to work this York crowd up into a singalong sweat, but judging by the fact that fans seem happy to remain in their seats, it would appear that this is an audience who is satisfied with just sitting back and soaking up the wonderful sounds of one of the UK’s most well-loved country acts.
