Dig the ‘Dirt’ with the Premiere of Down The Lees “Dissolve” Music Video
Post-noise rockers Down The Lees premiere their brand new live music video for their thunderous new single “Dissolve.”
There is no shortage of heavy bands, but to play as heavy and as proficiently as Down The Lees is rare. The noise-rockers are proud to debut their new live video today for “Dissolve.” It is off of their recently released EP Dirt (Off White House Records), which also features the previously released single “Douse.” Simply put, this song is heavy as hell, but it also features no shortage of melody. The guitar playing of frontwoman Laura Lee Schultz is impressive, to say the least. Her riffs are thunderous and leave no shortage of impact. Her vocals are just as punishing, and the band’s raw energy is reminiscent of early grunge.
The music video stays true to the band’s DIY DNA. Punk rock is all the way. They took a mixture of fan and professionally shot footage to put this clip together. They took footage from their last three shows in Vancouver, Victoria, and Nanaimo, all cities in the band’s native province of British Columbia.
With a few words on “Dissolve,” Schultz tells us:
“We love playing live—there’s truly nothing like it. The feedback and energy we get from the crowd is incredible and it really fuels us. That’s why we wanted to capture the audience’s perspective for the ‘Dissolve’ video. Fans often post Instagram stories that disappear in 24 hours, so I wanted to create something lasting, a moment in time that can be revisited. That’s the essence of this video. Thanks for premiering it, V13!”
For the recording of Dirt, Down The Lees has continued to define their sound with a mix of the aforementioned thunderous guitars and pulsating rhythms. It has come a long way since originating as Schultz’s solo project when she was living in Vancouver. It’s now evolved into a trio featuring drummer Andy Ashley and bassist Chris Carlson. They now have multiple albums, EPs, and singles under their belts, with the great Steve Albini getting on board to help record their 2019 record, Bury The Sun.
