Saskatchewan’s powerhouse punk duo Grimelda is set to embark on a whirlwind cross-Canada tour this June, bringing their explosive sound and raw energy to cities from Guelph to Calgary. Fresh off the acclaim of their latest album, It’s So Feeling When You Rock, Grimelda is ready to ignite stages across the country, delivering performances that promise to be as unhinged and unforgettable as the band itself. The tour’s highlight will be their highly anticipated performance at Toronto’s prestigious North by Northeast (NXNE) festival.
Grimelda, known for their innovative approach to punk rock, has been a formidable force in the Canadian music scene for over a decade. Their latest album, It’s So Feeling When You Rock, encapsulates their ability to blend and transcend genres while maintaining a fervent punk spirit.
At SXSW 2024, Grimelda’s set at the Chess Club was a standout. As Reverie Magazine recounted, “The small venue quickly reached capacity, and bodies were sweatily sticking together to catch a glimpse of Grimelda’s quirky punk energy. One of the most exciting live acts you will ever see.”
Their FOCUS Wales 2023 performance left an indelible mark on the festival. According to The Line of Best Fit, “The pair bounce off each other with the intimacy of close siblings, finishing each other’s thoughts – the yin to the other’s yang. Their thrashing instrumentation, thought-provoking tracks, and flawless stage presence blow everyone away.”
Clash Music also praised their set at FOCUS Wales, noting, “Their infectious punk energy, dealing politicized blows with an infectious degree of tongue-in-cheek wit, was littered with angular runs and shifting timescales.”
These performances are just a glimpse of what Grimelda has to offer. Their energetic shows and innovative approach make them a must-see act at any festival.
Their innovative approach has earned them several award nominations, including the WCMA 2023 Metal & Hard Music Artist, SMA 2023 Metal / Hard Rock Artist, and SMA 2021 Experimental / Contemporary Artist. Critics have lauded Grimelda’s unique sound and live performances.
Adam White of Some Party described them as “a muscular display of arty, unpredictable punk rock,” while Branton Langley from Cups N Cakes Network praised their latest release, saying, “It’s So Feeling When You Rock has more surprises than 100 boxes of Crackerjacks.”
Grimelda is gearing up for a relentless tour schedule, determined to bring their ineffable aural experience to every corner of the globe.
