Kate Clover is a rising star in the punk underground scene who has quickly gained a reputation as an explosive live performer and is highlighted as one to watch in 2024. Fresh off a busy 2023 touring schedule, which included a North American tour supporting The Hives, select dates with Fucked Up, as well as her debut European tour with many sold-out shows. She has just released her second album via SVR, The Apocalypse Dream LP.

Kate Clover writes about Los Angeles being her source of inspiration. She says:

“Where dreams are born or made to die. At the beginning of a story or tragic end, often you don’t get to make the choice. For better or worse, my hometown. As a lifelong Angeleno, the desire to flee has run deep and yet I always returned. Too proud to leave this polarizing city of dreams.

“During the spring of 2020 when the town cleared out and the smog lifted, dystopia emerged. Reality more shocking than fiction, LA became the backdrop to a neon-noir nightmare. Its vacancy created a void so great, that one could see their reflection all too clearly, even if the mirror was cracked. It became home to my ‘Apocalypse Dream.’”

Talking about her focus track, “I Don’t Care,” she says:

“There’s no greater feeling than letting go of things that burdened and held you back. This song was written after parting ways with some people I had been working with and I couldn’t contain the excitement and freedom I felt. It’s a salute to letting go.”

The Apocalypse Dream, Clover’s sophomore record, is now out. Produced by Jonah Falco (Fucked Up, Chubby and the Gang, The Chisel) and mixed by Grammy Award-winning producer Carlos De La Garza (The Linda Lindas, Paramore). Sonically inspired by ’70s punk, power pop, and a bit of The Kinks. Lyrically inspired by Beat poet Charles Plymell. Reflecting on self-destruction, politics, love, and the desire to find oneself in a world gone mad.
