Says Ryan Kerr, VP of Operations, Record Store Day Canada:
“One of the most exciting moments of the year is unleashing the Record Store Day Canada List. We work diligently behind the scenes with artists, record labels and distributors to bring fans the music they love and are willing to flock to independent stores in droves on Record Store Day.”
The Tragically Hip are proud to be announced as the Record Store Day Canada 2024 Canadian Ambassadors, releasing an exclusive standalone live album, Live at CBGB’s, on Record Store Day. Live At CBGB’s features nine live songs that were originally recorded on January 14, 1993, from the legendary New York venue CBGB’s as The Tragically Hip launched their third studio album, Fully Completely, in America with a private event from the intimate space. The band performed the record in full, omitting a few tracks that didn’t fit the bill. This concert recording will be available on April 20 for the first time as a 12″ Pink Vinyl with a limited run of Pink Cassettes at participating record stores in Canada and the US.
Past Canadian Ambassadors include Triumph, The Sheepdogs, Our Lady Peace and globally, Taylor Swift and Pearl Jam have held the title, among others.
As for other notable releases, beloved multi-platinum rockers Barenaked Ladies’ offering this year is pure eye candy. The BNL x RSD Canada limited edition features two 12-inch 180 gram Vinyl Picture Discs in a gatefold double die-cut jacket along with a four-colour insert with lyrics. The vinyl is individually numbered and includes a bonus postcard hand-signed by the band. The vinyl includes two songs not available on their 2023 In Flight CD, but only available on limited In Flight vinyl released in October 2023.
Canada’s favourite pop punk-rock outfit Sum 41 is back with a vengeance, with a very special Limited Edition Fluorescent Pink Vinyl titled Half Hour Of Power. The compilation covers the band’s releases from 2000 to 2008, an exciting era for the band in which they won multiple JUNO Awards, released multiple platinum-selling albums, and toured with Blink-182, The Offspring, and Good Charlotte.
