Alternative artist Sari Jordan’s newest track, “Ceasefire!” explores themes of conflict, closure, and healing with ethereal vocals and a distinct live-band sound that takes listeners on an expansive journey through times of darkness and tension, ultimately moving towards a comforting and cathartic release.
Inspired by sounds from psychedelic rock, neo-soul, and Broadway, “Ceasefire!” showcases Jordan’s unique sound through her sultry, jazz-steeped vocals that provide the perfect balance to the dynamic musicianship blasting behind them. Lyrically, “Ceasefire!” represents various instances of conflict and resilience as Jordan conveys a message of clarity, reminding listeners that the walls we create for self-protection can block us from seeing the full picture, resulting in miscommunication and confusion.
Commenting on her single, Sari shares:
“This song acts as a reminder that everyone has their own unique perspective and experience in life. This is one of those songs that teaches you something after you listen to it all the way through. I learned a lot about myself and gained clarity from writing and seeing this track through to completion.”
As Jordan gears up for her debut EP, Sing to the Moon, in late 2023, she continues to make a name for herself in New Orleans, quickly becoming known as a voice that oscillates from smoky-sweet soft to big-hearted belt and back again. The sensitive, silly-goose songstress first decamped to the Crescent City for college in 2018 and soon set off on a whirlwind romance with the great American songbook. The local culture coalesced with a lifelong love for theatre, soul, and alternative indie/psych rock, each deeply rooted in the city Sari now calls home.
