Making their trek through North America, San Antonio’s very own Nothing More graced Edmonton’s Midway Music Hall with their presence, bringing the “Spirits 2023 Tour” to town and making their mark on Alberta’s capital.

There’s nothing quite like a sold-out show on Saturday night, and many Edmontonians were pumped up and ready to throw down for a musically packed evening. Opening up the night, San Diego’s Thousand Below warmed up the audience; contrary to their name, the post-hardcore 4-some had the room bobbing their heads, shouting along to the punchy choruses of each tune, and thoroughly enjoying what was happening on stage.

Moving on to Crown The Empire, the emo band from Dallas, Texas, had the room spinning, singing and shouting for more. A plethora of shoes, hats and other articles of clothing were thrown about throughout the set, and although it’s unclear as to why this set led to the shedding of clothes, surely the moshing on the floor below was to blame. Edmonton showed up for Crown The Empire on Saturday night to sing, mosh and relive the days of their emo-youth phases.

Nothing More took to the stage by storm as they pummeled Midway with a heavy set of crushing tunes and an action-packed stage presence. Painted in both black and purple body paint, vocalist Jonny Hawkins had the crowd in the palm of his hand the moment he placed a bare-foot on stage. Opening the set up with the title track of their new album, SPIRITS, the Texas band wasn’t about to mess around on stage. Between the groovy riffs resonating from Mark Vollelunga’s guitar, and the low-end keeping things in check with Daniel Oliver and Ben Anderson, Nothing More easily impressed many folks in the room and gained many new fans in Edmonton.

Moving on through the night with their 13-song set, Nothing More made an impact on their audience that won’t soon be forgotten. They came, they played, they conquered. Needless to say, a sold-out Saturday night show with Nothing More was exactly what Edmonton needed.
