Mastodon Confirm New Album ‘Medium Rarities’; Unveil Lead Single “Fallen Torches”
Atlanta hard rockers, Mastodon are celebrating their 20-year-as-a-band mileston by releasing a rarities collection dubbed Medium Rarities. Due out on September 11th via Reprise Records, a dope pink vinyl version will drop on October 16th. Accompanying the album announcement is the record’s lead single, “Fallen Torches,” which was recorded in 2019. Another new Mastodon single, “Rufus Lives,” can be heard in the upcoming Orion Pictures movie, Bill & Ted Face The Music, due on August 28th.
Commenting on the news, the band shared, “‘Fallen Torches’ is an unreleased track from Mastodon that will appear on Medium Rarities – a collection of rare tracks released digitally for the first time. This classic Mastodon track was recorded in Atlanta in 2019, originally planned to be released in support of a European tour, the track was delayed so the band could focus on the release of Stairway to Nick John, a tribute to their late, long time manager Nick John, with proceeds going to the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research in his honor. ‘Fallen Torches’ is written by Mastodon and features guest vocals by longtime friend and collaborator Scott Kelly from the band Neurosis.”
