Featuring new and previously unreleased material from a host of artists, fans who have already seen the film will recognize many of the tracks. A standout for me was ‘You Don’t Own Me’ by Grace (Feat.G-Easy). Produced by Quincy Jones, it’s a modern take on Lesley Gore’s 1963 version, and is the ‘introduction’ track to Harley Quinn in the film. It really left a memorable first impression on me as far as her character, and I think it was an excellent choice.
‘Sucker For Pain’ by Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons with Logic and Ty Dolla $ign (Feat. X Ambassadors) is also super catchy, and another instance where I felt the production team behind both the soundtrack and the film got it right. My favorite track; however, has to be Grimes’ Medieval Warfare, filled with harsh guitar and relentless eerie beats, it’s the perfect badass track that Suicide Squad needed.
With over 14 tracks, the album also featured ‘Heathens’ by Twenty One Pilots, as well as ‘Purple Lamborghini‘ from Skrillex and Rick Ross, and new tracks from Kevin Gates, Kehlani, Skylar Grey. Panic! At The Disco cover Queen’s classic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. It also uses classics from War, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Eminem, as well as the first full-length version of the ConfidentialMX (Feat. Becky Hanson) a cover of “I Started A Joke”
This is a soundtrack definitely worthy of a few listens.
