Black Stone Cherry – “Thank You: Livin’ Live, Birmingham, UK, October 20th, 2014” [Blu-ray Review]
Capturing the sweat, the ringing ears and the raw rock n’ roll of a Black Stone Cherry show, this Blu-ray sets things up nicely for their 2016 arena tour.
When Black Stone Cherry headlined the second stage at Download Festival a few years back, the rain may have been pissing down but that didn’t stop the Kentucky band from rocking the life out of that stage. Watching the group was one of the weekend’s highlights as they effortlessly proved exactly why they have won the hearts of the rock community worldwide. This live Blu-ray, recorded at a packed LG Arena in Birmingham on the tour which followed that headliner set, captures the band in all their glory and is the perfect appetizer for their upcoming 2016 arena tour.
Like everything else the band have done, Thank You: Livin’ Live feels just so genuine. Though it offers pristine HD footage, this live Blu-ray doesn’t rely on it entirely. Whether it is a bar, an arena or a festival stage, the band’s live show is raw, sweaty and loud as hell and Thank You: Livin’ Live captures that feeling with good, wholesome live footage of the band rocking hard.
Yes it’s a flawless performance, but this is a band who simply ooze class live and, thankfully, this video has captured every moment possible. From the grins on their faces to every members’ full-throttle performance to the four minute bursts of high-energy rock n’ roll, you really can’t go wrong with this live offering.
Of course, as fans of the Kentucky rockers will testify to, nothing compares to seeing the band live. Nothing will beat the sweat, the ringing ears and the sore throat you will have when you catch the band on their upcoming tour but, as a second best, you can’t go wrong with Thank You: Living Live.
