Driver Friendly – “You’re a Legend, Sir” [Song Stream]
Three years after the release of their debut album, Driver Friendly were faced with a crossroads of sorts as a group. The predicament was either quit as a band after nine years together or do something drastic. Everyone’s lives were changing and headed in separate directions and in addition, the music industry was shifting. Rather than calling it a career, the band members decided to retreat into a cabin in the Appalachian Mountains of all places where they could write and create music without any distractions or limitations. They decided to go and not leave until they had enough songs to make a new album.
The Skinny: Three years after the release of their debut album, Driver Friendly were faced with a crossroads of sorts as a group.
With the help of their fanbase and producer Jim Vollentine, Driver Friendly raised enough money to fund the recording of their new effort which they decided to title Bury a Dream. The eleven songs are reminiscent of their past work, but also reflect an evolution in their songwriting talents. There is a new sense of urgency to their sound which has helped them rejuvenate their interest in making music. To go along with Bury a Dream the band will soon embark on an extensive summer tour. Here’s a cut from the new disc, the song “You’re a Legend, Sir” available for streaming.
