These United States – “Born Young” [Free Download]
These United States have been a busy band for several years now. The group just played its 800th show last year and are about to release album number five. The new LP was written and recorded throughout 2011 with twenty outside collaborators that took the group from coast to coast in the U.S. Inspired by his travels and the people he encountered, bandleader Jesse Elliot returned to Kentucky and New York to collaborate with his other bandmates to make sense and sound of his inspirations which has resulted in the new record to be released on June 12th.
The Skinny: These United States have been a busy band for several years now.
Some of the collaborations featured on the band’s new record include John McCauley of Deer, Laura Burhenn of The Mynabirds, Ben Sollee and David Moore of Langhorne and the entire Frontier Ruckus band. Recorded with Duane Lundy, the album is a concept album that acts as a snapshot of numerous American musical styles over the past century, but still looks forward to the future. These United States are currently touring on the west coast in anticipation of the album’s release in June. Check out the song “Born Young” available for free download.
