Album Review
Diamond Plate – “Generation Why?”
The Chicago based thrash band Diamond Plate recently signed to Earache Records and on August 9th will release their newest full-length, Generation Why?. As far as I’m concerned this is the best all out thrash record I’ve heard in years. The tasteful riffing, melodic guitar solos, chugging rhythms and the overall rawness give the album a serious old school thrash feel that’s impossible not to dig.

This is pure, unadulterated thrash that hasn’t become corrupted by any other influences or genres. Comparisons aside though, this is a serious metal disc that will have listeners spazzing out in no time at all. At the end of the day, I think it’s a phenomenal offering from a band we’re bound to be hearing more from in the future. If Diamond Plate keep churning out molten metal like this, they’re destined to rise to the top of the metal world. If you only purchase one more disc this year, Generation Why? should be that one; it will be money very well spent.
