Spin – “Believe”
The Philadelphia quartet Spin really knows how to rock and roll and come out of the box swinging on their newest release, Believe. After a brief intro track, “ImPromPtu v.h2,” that really does not even hint at things to come, the band gets things started with “Hurt By You,” a high energy pop/rock infused tune. From this point on the band launches into a series of well-crafted, high-energy rock songs that are extremely enjoyable and a fun listen.

While I was able pick out the band’s influences quite easily, (they are definitely influenced by bands such as The Muse and The Cars), Spin also has a unique sound all to their selves as well. I feel the band is at its absolute best on the harder edgier tunes such as the opener “Over And Over,” “Ava” and “Burn,” all of which are bit harder and really showcase some good guitar fret work.
I must also make mention of a very interesting, and what I think, is a well executed cover of The Zombies song “Time Of The Season.” I wasn’t expecting this song at all but by the second time through I began to dig it… I really feel they nailed this dead on. This is a terrific rendition of a classic radio tune.
Spin plays a brand of contagious rock and roll that gained my attention straight away and promptly got under my skin; I wanted to listen to more. I have always been a sucker for good straight up, well-produced rock and I feel that Believe fits the bill perfectly. [ END ]
