Mutiny Within – “Self-Titled”

How many musicians are willing to travel from England to America just to join a metal band? Maybe not too many, but vocalist Chris Clancy did just that for the purpose of joining New Jersey-based Mutiny Within. Shortly after his arrival, Chris invited his friend Dan Bage to join him for some guitar shredding. What made these two musicians willing to jump over the pond just to join MW? Who knows? But whatever the reason was, it must have been good.

With these new British recruits Mutiny Within became a solid six piece that soon grabbed the attention of one of the biggest metal labels in the world. Roadrunner Records quickly inked a deal with the band and immediately sent them to the studio to record their self-titled debut.

As soon as the first note hit, I was grabbed by the ears and pulled into the music. The instrumentals are magnificent and boast great melodies and guitar leads. Moreover, Chris Clancy’s voice is mind blowing. He has a distinctive voice which sets him apart from other vocalists in the metal genera. Vocals aside, the music is heavy but at the same time melodic. Not too melodic though as the band breaks up the singing by throwing in a few excellent-sounding growling parts. Every song is well-written and gets your heart and fist pumping and your head banging.

Mutiny Within has accomplished the ultimate goal! They’ve found a distinct voice and created a remarkable debut record, setting them apart from many other bands in their field. Fans of Roadrunner Records’ Dream Theater, Megadeth, Killswitch Engage and Hail The Villain will really enjoy the smooth metal sounds of Mutiny Within.  [ END ]
