The Classic Struggle – “Bring Back The Glory”

“I want to see the whites of your eyes. I want to see how you’ll handle this demise”… bold sentences to begin the album Bring Back The Glory by The Classic Struggle. With months of touring experience under their belt, these South California metalers show us the expertise they have gained over the last 3 years with this release.

Hailing from Myrtle Beach, South California, these beach boys may be laid back as individuals but when they join together to make music they’re definitely not mellowed out in any way. This band thrashes through every track with only the occasion breakdown, giving your head a much needed rest from the exploding craziness. Brandon Collins, Chris Grant, Justin Blakey and Tyler Solnosky begin the album with a massive thrash instrumental. Part way into the thrashing Tim Zlinsky jumps in with a growl that drags for a bit setting the stage is set for the rest of Bring Back The Glory. The album is straight forward metalcore, full of thrashing guitar riffs backed up by heavy hitting drums and powerful growls. All ten tracks release the pent up energy The Classic Struggle has been holding in since their last album Feel Like Hell. Fans of that release will be sure to love this one.

Since their label Ironclad Recordings is owned by Trevor Phipps (Unearth) The Classic Struggle had the opportunity to work with Ken Susi (Unearth) to record and mix Bring Back The Glory. The influence of Unearth on the band is noticeable. With the help of one of the biggest bands in the underground metal scene, The Classic Struggle have upped their sound and matured. Along with the great music, Bring Back The Glory also has an appealing visual presentation. The artwork was created by Aaron Crawford who has also worked for bands such as After The Burial, Suicide Silence, Veil Of Maya, Carnifex and others. It is worth checking out the visuals and fans of Aaron Crawford should definitely add this to their collection of his work.

The Classic Struggle’s album Bring Back The Glory is a demonstration of a ‘core’ band, that can thrash with limited breakdowns. I highly recommend this album to anyone who likes metal as well as fans of Unearth, Arise And Ruin, Himsa and The Black Dahlia Murder.  [ END ]
