Album Review
Senses Fail – “Still Searching”
I’m not sure how this band is viewed on home turf and what not, nor do I care. But I’ve read up on the band for an interview I had to conduct at last year’s Taste of Chaos tour, and here are the main misconceptions: a) Buddy Nielson is not the asshole he is made out to be, and b) I really liked their previous release Let It Unfold You.

Now that I got that off my chest, I think Senses Fail have released a pretty solid record. It’s catchy, I think it’s more mature and fans, like their, songs have both grown. I think this album is a step forward for the band; a new line up change did them some good. Heath Saraceno has joined the clan from Midtown. Interesting enough the band has stayed true to their original sounding material and moved forward even with a fresh set ears on board.
The album’s overall feel is not as dark and imaginary as their last release. Sure there are instances of similarities but, and I hate saying this, it is more mature. There is a bit less screaming and more emphasis on the music, which is still a Senses Fail kind of sound.
“Can’t be Saved” could be branded as the album’s ballad and the guitar solo in “Shark Attack” is super-cool. The album sounds really tight, and really well put together.
I’m taking this album as a teaser to greater things to come….
Check these dudes out on the Taste of Chaos tour and don’t forget your little pumping fists in the crowd, because these guys put on a great show.
