Lights on The Coast Premiere Their Dazzling New EP ‘Another Life’

With challenges come lessons, and with lessons comes knowledge, and with knowledge comes experience, which describes the course that Lights on The Coast has been on. The talented trio is set to reemerge with their new EP Another Life, released May 17th via Manic Kat Records. This marks the band’s first new music in three years since the release of their debut EP Signals. You can read about that record here, in our exclusive track-by-track we did with the band.

In the meantime, Another Life is a steadier, more evolved set of songs for an ensemble whose popularity is clearly on the rise. Featuring potent riffs, soaring batches of melody, and an infectious energy, this is a very worthwhile follow-up. It’s the start of a new era for Lights on The Coast. This marks their first new music without their late guitarist, Victor Hernandez. Hernandez tragically passed away in 2021. It has been a long way back, but the band has regrouped and learned many lessons.

Hernandez unexpectedly passed away in early 2021. Steadfast in their approach, the remaining members of Lights on The Coast remain committed to carrying on. Signals was written during the pandemic and was released just as things were sort of starting to get back to normal. Shortly before, they lost Hernandez, but they released Signals, which was generally well-received by the metalcore community.

Those songs acted as a source of strength and catharsis for the Albuquerque ensemble. They used that as a source of strength when writing these new songs. The band also felt empowered by the touring they did behind Signals, which included shows with The Plot in You, Secrets, and Convictions. It’s a new era for Lights on The Coast, and Another Life is a representation of that musical renaissance.
