KATAKLYSM, EXHORDER and KRISIUN Deliver the Goods at Mesa’s Club Red [Photos & Review]
Montreal death metal band Kataklysm hit Club Red in Mesa, AZ in support of their Nuclear Blast album Meditations. Support from Exhorder and Krisiun made fo a highly entertaining evening!
Montreal death metal band, Kataklysm is currently on tour to promote their latest album, 2018’s Meditations. We fortunately caught their show at Club Red in Mesa, Arizona recently on September 15th.
We got there just in time to catch Krisiun, a death metal band from Brazil. Something has to be said for three brothers to be in a band together for three decades and they haven’t tried to kill each other. My siblings and I wouldn’t have lasted three weeks. They are such a great group to see live.
Exhorder was next. Good old Louisiana thrash/groove metal. It was my first time seeing them and I was not disappointed. There’s something about metal bands from New Orleans. It doesn’t matter the sub-genre, they all have this certain kind of dirty, swampy sound. Exhorder brings that sort of swamp decay to life, which is something we could all use, couldn’t we?
When Kataklysm took the stage, I was impressed by their level of professionalism. Halfway through their second song, vocalist Maurizio Iacono stopped the show and started the whole set over again because he was unhappy with the sound and wanted fans of the band to have as positive of an experience as they possibly could. There’s something to be said for that. Most bands would just ask for better sound and keep going. They made it a point to start over. The rest of the show was a solid and highly entertaining performance.
