Fake Figures is certainly no damn garage band! Composed of members of well-known acts the likes of Atreyu, Hotwire and Scars of Tomorrow, they’ve been kicking around since 2011. The musicians came together over their mutual interest of blending metal, alternative and punk, all the while maintaining undertones of the great days late ‘90s rock.
After some downtime, Fake Figures returned in 2018 and entered the studio to track their third EP with producer Kris Comeaux (Assuming We Survive). Their first release in quite some time, the single “Hole In The Sky”, dropped in May and was met with nothing but positive reaction. The forthcoming EP will follow 2011’s Hail The Sycophants debut and 2014’s They Must Be Destroyed, the latter of which marked the studio debut of drummer Steve Ludwig. In celebration of their new tunes, we’ve partnered with the guys to offer a free download of the They Must Be Destroyed EP. Get some!
Oh you gonna dig this! Check out the band’s newest track, “Hole In The Sky”.
Checking in with an exclusive comment, bassist Bob Bradley said, “‘They Must Be Destroyed’ is our EP that was released in 2014 and was produced by Beau Burchell (Saosin, etc). We had a blast doing this one at his studio in Los Angeles and each of the six tracks really has a personality of its own. To be candid, we had mixed reviews on this EP, where some people absolutely loved it and others caught some of the inconsistencies of our sound, track to track. I guess that’s what happens when you sit on a ton of different ideas (from different members) for a long time and then have a short window to pull it all together.
It led to some our favorite songs (‘Here Come The Idiots’) and others where you’ll probably never hear us write a track like that again (such as) ‘Sit and Burn’. I think its part of the adventure of being in a band though, and this was also the debut set of tracks by our drummer Steve Ludwig. We’re in the studio now actually and our sound is a bit more reminiscent of the first EP ‘Hail The Sycophants’ and tracks of ‘TMBD’ like ‘You Stupid Beast.’ Lastly, the artwork on ‘TMBD’ was done by our friend Ruben Martinez, who’s done some great work for some iconic metal bands over the years.”
